We Are Licensed to Wed!!!

First thing this morning, Mike and I took a trip down to City Hall to get our marriage license. We were tired but excited!

We followed all the signs…

I went through a phase where I was addicted to Ancestry.com. I loved looking at copies of my ancestor’s marriage certificates and imagining how they were feeling when they signed those forms. When I signed the form today, I couldn’t help but think of my future great, great-grandchildren looking at my signature. Hopefully this blog will still exist two hundred years from now and they’ll be able to know exactly how I was feeling today…giddy!

They even gave us an envelope. How thoughtful :)

It’s official…We’re getting married!

  1. Wooooo Hoooooo …… I know you are beyond excited and I’m happy for both of you + your families!!!! I’ll never forget the day Husband and I got our wedding license. It was the day BEFORE our wedding, we were rushing to the courthouse before the clerk’s office closed at 5:00pm and (LUCKILY!) my mom is best friends with the clerk and she kept the door open for us as we came running through at 5:08pm. We signed on the dotted line, she stamped it official, and off to the rehearsal we went. Almost six years later, I would change a thing!

    Big hugs!

    1. Wow I can’t imagine the NYC clerk holding the doors for me…they didn’t even say hello, or look us in the eye. I’m glad it work out for you!

  2. Congrats!
Since we got married here in Japan, I had to swear an affidavit at the American embassy that I wasn’t already married. Then we had to go register at the ward office where he married me. I didn’t have to do anything. A girlfriend of mine went through the same thing and was actually in the bathroom when she got married.
BTW, you’ve got “out” instead of “our” in your first line. 😉

  3. Thanks for catching that…I guess in my excitement I got sloppy :/ I can’t believe your friend got married in the bathroom. That’s hilarious. I thought it would be harder to get married overseas, but that sounds like a piece of cake.
